Food

At La Bastide, we are excited to serve a menu rich with classic French bistro foods complemented by a few modern adaptations and local interpretations of these traditional dishes.

Our menu celebrates seasonal Western Australian produce combined with French delicacies which can only authentically come from France. In addition to our regular menus, there are daily specials – plats du jour. These dishes which highlight seasonal local produce are written up on our vintage mirrors and blackboards.

French bistros are renowned for their skilful pairing of wine with food. We take pride in offering a carefully constructed wine list designed to complement our food in the same way.

Wine is a fundamental and passionate focus at La Bastide.  Our wine list – la carte des vins – is the result of Rob and Michelle’s lifelong interest in wine, from growing up with parents who enjoyed Margaret River classics to living overseas and tasting wine around the world, particularly in France.  We believe strongly that most wines drink better when accompanied with food.

These experiences and this philosophy have resulted in a carefully curated wine list inspired by the classic French wine regions of Champagne, Burgundy, Bordeaux and the Rhône.  With a broad selection of wines on our list, you can taste a range of wines which have been chosen to match with and enhance the dishes in our food menu.  Our wine list also includes an extensive and rare collection of aged wines.

We hope you find many wines on our list which are interesting and to your liking.  Please feel free to ask us for suggestions.  We love to talk about – and drink – wine.

Sunday 24 March 1pm

La Bastide with West Australian Opera and See Subiaco presents an Operatic Soirée

Opera and French cuisine go hand-in-hand.  For centuries, French chefs were inspired to create dishes in hone of opera’s greatest singers, composers and works.

La Bastide will celebrate this wonderful tradition by curating a decadent three course menu featuring dishes honouring some of opera’s most famous names including composers Giuseppe Verdi and Gioacchino Rossini and Australian soprano Dame Nellie Melba.

Between each sumptuous course, acclaimed Australian-American soprano Rachelle Durkin, who has previously performed at The Met in New York and most recently starred in West Australian Opera’s La Boheme, will perform a series of her favourite French arias.  Rachelle will be accompanied by West Australian Opera’s Artistic Director Chris van Tuinen.

Tickets: $245 per person
Each ticket includes champagne on arrival, amuse bouche and a three course menu matched with premium wines.

Don’t miss this unique celebration of French food, wine, music and culture.  It will be a feast for your senses.

The full menu, including matched wines, and the booking link are below.
